Three People Rescued From Duplex Fire

Peoria firefighters helped three residents to safety from a fire in a duplex.

Firefighters arrived at 6114 N. Jayar, Apt. A, at 6:15 a.m. Saturday to find heavy smoke and fire showing from both floors of the two-story duplex. Firefighters had also received a report of possible victims inside.

Two occupants were rescued from the first floor, while a ladder was used to rescue one resident on the second floor. Battalion Chief Shawn Sollberger said due to the fast response, the occupants did not report any injuries and did not seek medical attention.

The fire was located in the first floor kitchen area and was knocked down within five minutes.

There were no injuries among firefighters. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
